In this issue, that was drafted before the violent protests in Kazakhstan, security in Central Asia is discussed. The topics under consideration – human security; Central Asian enclaves and; Central Asian ties with Afghanistan – remain pertinent to the security of the region just as potential instability remains a matter of concern. Nine young analysts from Central Asia contribute to this EUCAM Watch with their individual security pitch while jointly arguing for an increased role for civil society actors in contributing to the security of their societies in cooperation with the authorities, media, and international partners.
