Since Lithuania hosted the NATO Summit in 2023 and the Netherlands are poised to host one in 2025, this event will provide a unique opportunity to combine an anniversary celebration and a focused discussion on the past, present and future of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Two years after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the war continues to cause extreme civilian harm and military casualties and has changed Ukrainian society to the core.

At this event we will look ahead to some of the main questions that will be on the agenda of the Vilnius summit. This notably includes how the alliance can rise to the challenge and credibly reinforce its defence and deterrence capabilities.

Op deze dag reflecteerden volgers van Instituut Clingendael samen met onze experts op de gebeurtenissen. Welke lessen trekken de deskundigen uit het afgelopen jaar? On June 28, the Russia and Eastern Europe Knowledge Alliance (REKA) organised an online event titled A new reality in Eastern Europe. We discussed this new reality with representatives of knowledge institutions, the government and media in the Netherlands. Because what are the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine for both countries, Europe as a whole and the Netherlands in particular? Both the opening session and the panel discussion were livestreamed from 14:00 until 15:30.

Ms. Dzhaparova will address Ukraine's bid for EU candidacy status, Dutch-Ukraine relations, and the current situation in Ukraine, including the Crimean Peninsula.

Op maandag 28 maart om 19 uur (Nederlandse tijd, GMT +2) vindt er weer een nieuwe editie van onze online leesclub voor Russische literatuur plaats. Dit keer gaat Julia Sjabarova samen met de deelnemers een verhaal van Viktor Goljavkin bestuderen. 

Op 17 maart neemt het eerste literaire seminar voor neerlandici plaats. Onder begeleiding analyseren studenten het verhaal van de Nederlandse klassieker W. F. Hermans.

Op 15 maart vindt de eerste literaire werkgroep voor slavisten plaats. Onder begeleiding van Yulia Sjabarova analyseren studenten de poëzie van Nina Allakhverdova.

Rusland is wereldberoemd om zijn filmklassiekers. Eisenstein, Tarkovski, en Sokoerov zijn slechts enkele van de vele beroemde namen binnen de wereld van Russische film.

Op donderdag 10 maart bespreken experts in het Nutshuis in Den Haag de meest recente ontwikkelingen rond de Oekraïne-oorlog.
